Ealing Borough - The home of countless Rock Legends!!
Mitch Mitchell (1947-2008),
Jimi Hendrix's drummer, grew up in Ealing, and he had lessons with Jim
Marshall, the man who went on to create the famous Marshall amplifiers.
At Marshall's music shop on Uxbridge road, rock legends Ritchie Blackmore and
Pete Townsend came to play his guitars and encourage him to design a new
kind of amp. Later Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix would also come to his
shop...
The Who were formed in Acton
- Townshend, Roger Daltrey and John Entwistle went to Acton Grammar
School.
Fleetwood Mac's John McVie
was born and grew up in Ealing.
The Rolling Stones' Ronnie
Wood and Queen's Freddie Mercury both went to Ealing Art College.
Soul legend Dusty Springfield
grew up in, yes...
Ealing is also the birthplace
of two of the biggest names in 1990s jazz-funk... Jamiroquai and The
